President of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev met with Japan's Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Y. Matsumoto, the head of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Tsuyoshi Sugino, and leaders of prominent Japanese universities such as the University of Tsukuba, Nagoya University, Tottori University, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, as well as Nagoya University of Economics.

In continuation of the program of events of the “Central Asia + Japan” Dialogue, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in a multilateral business forum.

I would like to emphasise that it was the Land of the Rising Sun that initiated the first Central Asia Plus dialogue more than 20 years ago. Time has shown the strategic necessity and rectitude of this decision. This summit is undoubtedly historic, marking a new phase in our cooperation.

On 20 December, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the first summit of the “Central Asia + Japan” Dialogue in Tokyo. 

At the end of the first day of his visit to Tokyo, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended an official reception on behalf of the Prime Minister of Japan, which was held at the Akasaka Palace in honor of the heads of state of Central Asia.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the heads of the Japanese organisations JOGMEC and ITOCHU, Ichiro Takahara and Jun Inomata.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Sojitz Corporation executives Masayoshi Fujimoto and Kosuke Uemura.

The business program of the official visit to Tokyo continued with negotiations between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the president of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Akihiko Tanaka.

Continuing the business program of his official visit to Tokyo, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Nobumitsu Hayashi, governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
